Cheap Weekend Fun for Everyone

Written by Kristin Perissinotto | 12/05/18 12:16 AM

Everybody loves weekends, there's no denying that. But for those of us who are short on cash, they can be a time of stress. What can you do with your significant other? How will you keep the kids entertained? Is there a cheap way to get out of the house?

Cheap fun for you

Check Groupon

Groupon can have some unbelievable deals on experiences from spa days to parasailing! At certain times, coupons are so discounted that you could only end up paying a few dollars for a massage or similar experience!

People watch

It's an underrated activity in our technology-filled world, but people watching in your local park or shopping centre can be a lot of fun and can fill hours.

Cheap fun with friends

Have a pot luck dinner

This might be something you've only seen in American movies, but it's definitely something you can bring to life! Have all of your friends bring a dish and enjoy a meal together.

Clean out your closet

Now this might sound dull, but throw in some snacks and drinks, and you have a party! Take turns going to each other's houses to conduct mass wardrobe clean outs - it's always helpful to have another set of eyes (or a few sets) when deciding what to get rid of.

Cheap fun for the kids

Make a campfire

If you have a backyard, this will be easy to do! Collect up some sticks and logs (or buy them from a service station) and stock up on some marshmellows.

Feed the ducks

This won't cost you anything more than a loaf of bread, and the kids will have a great time!

Treasure hunt!

Put together a treasure hunt with clues for your little ones. You can make it indoors or out, depending on the weather! And if you make it hard enough, it'll keep them busy for hours!

Build a fort

The living room is your oyster for this one - build a fort using pillows, blankets, furniture, and whatever else you can find. The kids might even like to 'camp out' overnight!

Cheap fun for couples

Take a walk

This isn't an original idea, but try to think outside the box - what about a walk late at night, or as the sun rises? The world can be a different place late at night or in the early hours.

Check out a museum or gallery

Museums and art galleries are usually free to enter, and will change every few months, meaning there will always be something new to see!

Have a happy Sunday!
