Could you tell us a little about yourself?

I'm a married Allied Health Assistant and I have 3 grandchildren.

Could you talk a little bit about getting the debt?

I did some home renovation and the builder kept asking for more money to complete the renovations. I used personal loans and credit cards to pay the builder.  It went bad and in the end we had to change the locks to keep him out. We ended up pursuing a civil case against the builder but we could not afford to take it further and had to drop the case.

Did you try to clear the debt before working with us?

I tried but I just couldn't clear it and it got on top of me. I decided I needed to get debt free, to do this for myself and start over and learn from my mistakes

How did you stay motivated?

I stayed motivated by knowing I would be debt free if I just kept going. I could see progress.

What have you learned along the way?

I have learned to budget and not overspend. I get quotes and signed contracts!  I would be more cautious with dealing with builders and research before committing

What advice would you give to people with debt who don’t see a way of getting debt free?

I would advise anyone to have a chat with Beyond Debt as they are very helpful and give you a piece of mind

Is there anything you going to do now your debt-free that you couldn't before?

I can pay cash up front for everything and not use credit!

Do you have any final words of wisdom for the readers?

Beyond Debt were my savior. I didn't know how I was going to get out of my situation. I am so grateful and I even paid out my agreement early. It feels real good to know that I only have my mortgage to pay!
