The Australian Federal and State Governments have a long list of grants available for individuals and businesses that can help start or grow your company! Much of the time, the public do not know of these grants and are unsure where to start, so we are dedicating this month to all things grants!
The Small Business Entrepreneur Grants Program can provide small businesses with the support and mentorship they need to grow and flourish in their industry. The program is specifically geared towards those whose business is in the very early stage of the business life cycle.
Funding up to $5 000 may be available to the successful candidate. These funds can be used to hire a coach or consultant for up to three months to gain the knowledge required to begin or grow the business. To qualify for the grant, service purchased must be for business or strategic planning, mentoring or coaching, gaining advice on strategy, or the business overall. This includes topics such as digital strategy, branding, online marketing, legal advice, and financial counselling or services.
The grant is specifically for coaching and mentoring with the intention of growing or developing a business. Funding is not to be used for project proposals for long or ongoing projects, travel costs, franchise fees, salaries, or equipment for the business. An application will additionally be denied if the grant is required for marketing or advertising costs, expansion, or everyday operating costs.

To apply, the business must have already paid for and completed the mentoring or coaching program, and a successful applicant will be reimbursed up to 50% of the total cost of the service.
